The Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government has commissioned a series of community-based projects executed across the local government area under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA.
The projects were officially commissioned by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, who was represented at the ceremony by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ganiu Hamzat. The event took place today, 19th August, 2026.
Renovation of two (2) Block ó F Classrooms with Office and Desks with Benches at Local Govt Primary School, Akasun, Ere WardSpeaking at the event, the Chairman stated that the projects were conceptualised and delivered within a few months of his administration, in alignment with the local government’s 2026 development agenda.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the confidence reposed in him as Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, as well as to the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, FNSE, for their continued support and encouragement.
Hon. Wasiu recalled some of the challenges previously faced by communities before the commencement of the projects, particularly the prolonged water scarcity in Ado-Odo Ward 2 and the absence of electricity in Alapoti Ward, where some residents reportedly lived without power supply for about 15 years.
According to him, the restoration of electricity has significantly improved the quality of life of residents, revitalised commercial activities, and restored dignity to the affected communities.
The Chairman emphasised that the achievements recorded by his administration were not accidental but were made possible through the cooperation and support of residents, particularly their compliance with the payment of statutory fees and levies.
He noted that his administration operates an open-door policy that encourages members of the public, non-governmental organisations, community groups, and associations to provide input, collaborate with the local government, and contribute ideas aimed at accelerating development across Ado-Odo/Ota.
provision and energisation of a 33KVA/300MVA transformer at Inawole/Idosaba-Ago Ogbe-Iroko-Idobarun Villages in Alapoti WardAmong the projects highlighted by the Chairman were the landscaping of the Local Government Secretariat premises; asphalt paving at the frontage of the Executive Chairman’s office; provision and energisation of a 33KVA/300MVA transformer at Inawole/Idosaba Village in Alapoti Ward; and the renovation of a block of four classrooms at All Saints Primary School, Igbesa.
Other projects include the installation of low-tension electricity distribution lines at Idobarun, Ado-Odo; construction of motorised solar-powered boreholes at Ado-Odo Ward 11, Igunfin, and Agbara Village; provision of furniture for public schools in Igbesa and Ere Wards; renovation of the Local Government Primary School at Akasun Village, Ere Ward; renovation of the poultry pen at Ado-Odo; and grading of access roads across various wards.
The Chairman also mentioned the rearing of 1,000 day-old chicks at the Local Government Poultry Farm in Ado-Odo; construction of drainage systems and culverts along the Osborne-Sakawa-Igbakwe-Akinbo-Okede Road; construction of a culvert and drainage system at Oloja-Wakuj Palace in Igbesa; construction of a culvert at Olosun-Itamaje-Olosun; and the construction of a cenotaph within the Local Government Secretariat.
He added that several other projects are scheduled for commissioning as part of the administration’s ongoing development initiatives.
Renovation of a block of four classrooms at All Saints Primary School, Igbesa.Hon. Wasiu commended the staff of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government for their exemplary performance, noting that council workers had received awards for best-performing staff on several occasions over the past five years.
He also called for continuity in governance, urging residents to support policies and programmes that would sustain the development gains recorded in the local government.
The Chairman further appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for his commitment to ensuring that government projects deliver tangible benefits to the people. He noted that the Governor consistently scrutinises projects to ensure value for money and measurable impact on citizens.
According to him, the administration’s approach of prioritising capital projects over administrative expenditure has helped ensure that residents continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Olota Commends Governor, Council Leadership
The Olota of Ota, His Royal Majesty Oba Professor Adeyemi Abdul Kabir Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun II, in his goodwill message, commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the prompt release of funds and sustained support for development projects across Ado-Odo/Ota.
The monarch urged the local government executive and councillors to continue working in unity in the best interest of the people.
At Igbesa, the former Deputy Speaker of Ogun State, Hon. Prince Olusegun Bolanle Gbélẹyi, also reflected on the historical significance of All Saints Primary School, noting that his grandfather served as the first teacher and headmaster of the school when it was established in 1914. And called for total support for APC led Administration in the coming election
At Inawole, Alapoti, the commissioning of the transformer was met with widespread excitement as residents expressed gratitude for the restoration of electricity to the community. They also offered prayers for the state and local government administrations for what they described as a landmark intervention.
The commissioning ceremonies attracted a large gathering of dignitaries and stakeholders, including the representative of the Ogun State Governor and Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ganiu Hamzat; the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Chairman, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA; the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Adeyemi Abdul Kabir Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun II; the Elegusi of Ota, Oba Alagbe; traditional rulers and Baales from various communities across Ado-Odo/Ota; the Chairman of Ogun State Crop and Processing Food, Chief Mrs. Ibilola Kamilat Subair; councillors and members of the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Executive Council.
Also in attendance were market leaders, women groups, including the Noimot Salako Women Group, artisans, community leaders, and party supporters.
The projects, according to the local government administration, form part of its commitment to improving infrastructure, enhancing the welfare of residents, and delivering sustainable development across the various wards of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government.
