LAGOS – Toba Ajiboye, popularly known as Toba Ijaya, has died after being shot while inside his vehicle around Fadeyi along Ikorodu Road, Lagos State, on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Toba was initially reported to have survived the attack and was admitted to St. Nicholas Hospital for treatment. However, reports on Tuesday confirmed that he had succumbed to his injuries.
Investigations into the incident have uncovered reports linking the attack to the killing of a prominent Buccaneers (BAN) member, Agali, who was shot dead inside his vehicle on the night of April 11, 2026, in the Iponri area of Surulere.
Following Agali's death, Confra News reported on April 12 that the incident was not primarily cult-related, although individuals with alleged cult affiliations were reportedly involved in carrying out the attack. The report suggested that the killing appeared to be politically motivated, with Agali's associates claiming they knew those they believed sponsored the attack. Among the names allegedly mentioned were Toba, Ig***, and others.
According to information gathered
by Omoh Global News, Toba Ajiboye was not known to be a cult member but was regarded as a well-connected figure with close ties to individuals associated with cult groups, particularly members of the Eiye (ACN) confraternity.
Residents and associates held differing views about him. While some accused him of involvement in criminal activities, others described him as generous and supportive. His friends and colleagues in the transport sector also spoke highly of him. Until his death, Toba served as the Organizing Secretary of the NURTW Lagos State Council.
Toba was also widely regarded as an influential political figure with ties to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Earlier reports on Agali similarly described him as a political figure associated with APC interests who allegedly backed a different candidate during the state's recent political contest, creating divisions among rival political camps.
While the Lagos State Police Command continues its investigation, findings gathered by Omoh Global News do not currently indicate that the attack was primarily cult-related. Rather, information obtained from multiple sources suggests that the killing may have been politically motivated.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation. The police are expected to determine the exact motive behind the attack and identify those responsible.
