Why Noimot Salako-Oyedele Is Emerging Stronger in Ogun West Senate Race Through Consultative Politics and Professionalism |Omohglobalnews

The growing uncertainty surrounding whether the All Progressives Congress (APC) will adopt a consensus candidate or conduct a direct primary for the Ogun West Senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections is increasingly being viewed by political stakeholders as a development that may strengthen the growing aspiration of Ogun State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Across Ogun West, party loyalists and political observers believe the emergence of a competitive primary process could ultimately favour aspirants with broader consultations, administrative experience, political maturity, grassroots relationships, and institutional acceptance factors many supporters say presently place Salako-Oyedele in a strong position within the evolving APC political equation.

Her Senate bid has continued to gain momentum following renewed public attention to the commendation once given to her by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who described her as “a consummate professional,” while praising her discipline, creativity, competence, and hard work in governance.

The President’s remark has since become a recurring reference among supporters and stakeholders who argue that her technocratic background, calm political disposition, and governance experience distinguish her within the emerging field of aspirants.

Political analysts within the district note that the Deputy Governor’s profile combines public sector professionalism, grassroots accessibility, and executive governance experience, qualities increasingly considered critical as Ogun West prepares for what may become one of the most strategic senatorial contests in the state.

In recent weeks, Salako-Oyedele has intensified high-level consultations across Ogun West Senatorial District, meeting party elders, influential APC stakeholders, youth groups, women leaders, and community mobilizers as part of efforts to consolidate support for her aspiration.

Her consultation train reportedly extended across Yewa and Awori communities with visits to respected political figures including Chief M.A. Ajibola, Chief Ayedogbon, Chief Olusesi, Mama Onimole, Engr. Bisiriyu Popoola, Chief (Mrs.) Iyabo Apampa, Baba Olu Agemo, Otunba Akeem Adigun (Socopao), Asiwaju Titus Babajide (Oppressor), and Alhaji Fatai Ajibola, among others.

Observers say the consultations have helped deepen perceptions of her as a consensus builder capable of maintaining unity within the APC while also broadening stakeholder participation ahead of the party primaries.

During the engagements, the Deputy Governor appreciated leaders and supporters for their prayers, encouragement, and political support, describing the consultations as necessary steps toward strengthening collaboration and sustaining progressive development across Ogun West.

According to her, the aspiration is driven by service, inclusive representation, responsible leadership, and the desire to further advance the interests of Ogun West through quality legislation and stronger federal engagement.

Her supporters have also pointed to her visible alignment with the broader Ogun West political movement championed by Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, especially following her participation alongside the APC governorship consensus candidate during the submission of his nomination form in Abuja.

The development was widely interpreted within political circles as evidence of growing cooperation among key Ogun West leaders ahead of the 2027 elections and a sign that Salako-Oyedele remains strategically positioned within the district’s emerging power structure.

She had earlier reaffirmed her support for the Ogun West governorship project during stakeholders’ engagements hosted by Senator Adeola, describing the emergence of an Ogun West governorship candidate as a historic political breakthrough for the district after years of agitation and perseverance. She stressed that Ogun West now anticipates accelerated infrastructure development, economic growth, industrial expansion, and improved human capital development, while also advocating stronger inclusion of women in governance and leadership.

Beyond the political calculations, Salako-Oyedele’s aspiration is also gaining attention among advocates of women inclusion in governance, with supporters describing her candidacy as an opportunity to expand female representation in national politics at a time women remain significantly underrepresented in the Nigerian Senate.

As consultations continue across the district, many APC stakeholders believe the uncertainty over whether the party will settle for a consensus candidate or adopt a direct primary may ultimately shift attention toward competence, experience, acceptability, and leadership capacity areas where supporters insist Noimot Salako-Oyedele has continued to build considerable momentum through professionalism, strategic consultations, and inclusive grassroots engagement.
