As delegates of the African Democratic Congress prepare for Sunday’s governorship primary election, the moment calls for deep reflection, courage, and commitment to the future of Oyo State.
This primary election is not merely about selecting a flagbearer. It is about choosing the political direction, credibility, and electoral strength of ADC ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
At this defining moment, the Oloye Gboyega Adegoke Support Group (OGA) strongly believes that Chief Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke, FCIA, the Aare Egbe Omo Balogun of Ibadanland, remains the most prepared, visionary, and widely acceptable aspirant among all those seeking the party’s ticket.
At a time when many citizens are frustrated by economic hardship, weakening institutions, unemployment, insecurity, and growing disconnect between government and the people, Adegoke’s manifesto offers practical solutions rooted in accountability, productivity, institutional reform, and people-centred governance.
His repeated emphasis on building strong institutions rather than strong individuals directly addresses one of the greatest governance challenges confronting Nigeria today.
Beyond political rhetoric, Adegoke has demonstrated practical understanding of the daily struggles of ordinary citizens through his welfare-oriented programmes.
His proposal to ensure salaries and pensions are paid on or before the 20th of every month reflects sensitivity to the harsh economic realities facing workers and retirees whose purchasing power continues to shrink as prices of essential commodities rise sharply towards month-end.
His plan to increasing 13th month salary by 50 percent alongside upward review of pensions to reflect rising cost of living realities, further demonstrates humane leadership and economic responsibility.
Equally important is his vision to reduce transportation burdens on workers, students, traders, and low-income families through affordable transportation initiatives capable of easing the cost of living across the state.
In education, his proposed resuscitation of the Scholarship Board for gifted and indigent students represents renewed hope for brilliant young people whose ambitions are increasingly threatened by financial hardship.
Perhaps the most visionary aspect of his programme lies in technology and youth development.
His proposed Digital and Semiconductor Innovation Hubs, alongside strategic technology partnerships with institutions in China and Japan, reflect a bold determination to prepare Oyo youths for the rapidly evolving global technology economy through skills in artificial intelligence, robotics, coding, hardware engineering, and digital manufacturing.
Such futuristic thinking clearly distinguishes him from conventional politicians still trapped within outdated political approaches.
As a successful businessman, respected traditional title holder, and experienced administrator, Adegoke combines private sector exposure, cultural legitimacy, economic understanding, and leadership maturity required to reposition Oyo State for greater progress.
Delegates must therefore recognize that the decision before them is bigger than personal relationships or temporary political alignments. It is about presenting before the people of Oyo State a candidate capable of inspiring confidence, attracting broad public support, and offering a serious governance alternative ahead of 2027.
For us as a support group, the choice is clear.
Chief Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke represents competence, vision, democratic renewal, technological advancement, workers’ welfare, and people-oriented leadership.
We therefore passionately appeal to all delegates to rise above narrow considerations and cast their votes for the aspirant most capable of leading ADC to victory while simultaneously delivering purposeful governance for the people of Oyo State.
History will remember this moment, and posterity will honour those who place competence, vision, and the future of Oyo State above every other consideration.
