An engineer, Jimoh Alade, has stressed that effective leadership goes beyond political campaigns, emphasizing the need to bridge the communication gap between elected officials and the electorate.
Alade made this known during a media chat organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun West Independent Chapel, on Tuesday, where he outlined his vision for sustainable development and grassroots engagement.
Describing himself as a problem-solver trained to deliver lasting solutions, Alade said his leadership approach would prioritize consistent engagement with constituents to ensure their voices are heard and their needs addressed.
He noted that communities thrive when education is prioritized, adding that areas with a strong presence of professionals tend to experience greater development. To this end, he pledged to invest in youth education to help produce more professionals in the coming years.
On economic empowerment, Alade proposed the establishment of cooperative societies across wards, where members can make modest contributions to build capital for businesses. He said the initiative would, over time, create a network of self-reliant entrepreneurs.
Speaking on his immediate plans if elected, Alade said the first few months in office would be dedicated to gathering critical data needed for effective governance. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication with the grassroots to track progress, receive feedback, and implement necessary improvements.
He further highlighted plans to renovate health centres, introduce e-learning facilities in secondary schools, and roll out empowerment programmes to uplift residents.
“If elected, I will serve my people; and if given any appointment, I will still serve my people,” he assured.
