The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, visited the scene of a fatal accident at the Toll Gate area, which claimed several lives following brake failure by a trailer tanker. Acting on an early morning distress call, he arrived at the scene alongside the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Ogabi Mohammed; Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Femi Agbeleye; and Hon. Jamiu Agboola.
He was received by heads of security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and TRACE officers. Officials reported nine casualties—eight males and one female. Six persons died instantly, while three were rushed to the hospital; one later succumbed to injuries, while the others remain in critical condition.
Hon. Lawal expressed deep sympathy to the families of the deceased and prayed for the strength to bear their loss. He also lamented the negligence of traders operating along highways, particularly around the Toll Gate area, noting that such activities expose both traders and commuters to grave danger.

The chairman directed security agencies to intensify enforcement of law and order around Sango-Ota and the Toll Gate corridor to prevent similar tragedies and to safeguard lives and property.
