The Management of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, led by the Executive Chairman Alhaji Lawal Adewale Wasiu FCA, paid a courtesy visit to CWAY Food and Beverages Ltd in Ota with the Executive Team and Local Government Management Team. The visit aimed to familiarize the local government with companies within its jurisdiction and foster a working relationship. During the visit, CWAY’s management team showcased the company’s products, safety policies, and compliance with national and international regulations.
The company, established in 1999, has expanded its operations to include a plant in Shagamu, and its products range from Nutri Milk of various brands, Glucose drink, Nutri Choco, Peach fruit drinks, Pizzy apple flavor, and Fuji probiotics. Alhaji Lawal commended CWAY for its commitment to quality and safety, noting that the local government values the company’s contributions to the community.
The CWAY management team raised concerns about multiple tax payments, road conditions, and security issues affecting their operations. Mr. Arun Bhintade, General Manager of CWAY Food and Beverages Ltd, discussed compliance and maintaining high standards, while appreciating the local government chairman for his understanding and partnering spirit. Mr. Makanjulola James specifically complained about multiple tax payments made by trucks loading from the Ota plant, which has led some to prefer the Shagamu plant, and the deplorable state of the road from Oju Ore to their plant.
Alhaji Lawal responded by clarifying the local government’s stance on approved consultants and levies and promise to address the road condition issues. He emphasized the importance of a good working relationship between the local government and companies in Ado-Odo/Ota and assured CWAY that the local government would work to prevent any crisis with their workforce and provide support to resolve any communal issues. On traffic rules, he urged CWAY management to educate their drivers to maintain a queuing system and avoid parking abruptly on the road, which disturbs other users. He also advised them to promptly pay their levies, which form part of the local government’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for community development and infrastructural projects.
Alhaji Lawal further clarified that he had visited the construction site at Oju Ore and demanded that the contractors make drainage available to direct water flow and provide alternative roads for motorists, especially during the rainy season. He gave them a three-week ultimatum to make changes.
The visit concluded with a commitment from both parties to strengthen their relationship and work together for mutual benefit.
