TRACE Warns Against Indiscriminate Parking Of Trucks On Ogun Roads |Omohglobalnews

              TCC/CEO 'Seni Ogunyemi TRACE

The TRACE Area Commander, Ogun West, Ajibade Adekunle has warned against indiscriminate parking of trucks on roads in Ogun state, saying such induces accidents.

He gave the warning, on Thursday, during the monthly meeting of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN, Ota Branch, saying the warning aims at ensuring accident hitch-free 'Ember Months'.

Speaking on behalf of the TRACE Corps Commander, 'Seni Ogunyemi, Ajibade said the Agency is very much aware that trucks sent parking from Lagos are moving to Ogun to find a haven.

He said Ogun state can only accommodate them if they are ready to abide by the traffic rules and regulations which include avoidance of Haphazard parking.

"My Corps Commander strictly warns that no indiscriminate or Haphazard parking will be tolerated. He advises companies to park their vehicles within the premises or find places to park them to avoid staying on the roads.

According to Ajibade, indiscriminate and haphazard parking of trucks on the roads have caused a lot of avoidable accidents leading to loss of lives and property.

Making a particular reference to trucks parked haphazardly in front of the Nigerian Breweries, Sango-Ota, Ajibade said he has received avalanche of written complaints from companies in the vicinity, including Bright Products Ltd, on how such parking has disrupted the smooth inflow and outflow of vehicles from their vehicles from their premises.

"In most cases, the trucks parked on both sides of entrance gates of other companies in the area usually affects clear view of the vehicles from their premises to link the Expressway, often resulting in avoidable accidents.

He gave example of three recent fatal accidents recorded in the axis due to haphazard parking, and warned that the state government has given TRACE Agency power to remove indiscriminate and haphazard parking of such vehicles to make room for smooth experience of 'Ember Months'.

Urging MAN members to warn the truck owners to abide by traffic regulation and remove their trucks or else TRACE would help them, Ajibade said all efforts to reach them have been so far truck owners have been  futile.

"Please extend this gospel  news to them.

The TRACE Area Commander also warned owners whose  vehicles suddenly develop engine break down on Atan-Idiroko  axis to immediately ensure quick removal from the road, before fixing it.

"Due to the narrow nature of the road, we cannot afford to permit repair of broken down vehicles on the roads, for minutes, especially on Iju bridge as it happened last week. Owners should remove them to avoid other vehicles ramming into them.

Besides, Ajibade also warned driving against the traffic, aka 'One way', saying the Agency will arrest erring drivers caught violating the rule.

While hinting that TRACE Agency is planning a programme in this 'Ember Months' meant to catch  attention of children to inculcate in them the habit of obedience to traffic rules and regulation.

"The programme with theme: "TRACE SCHOOL WORKSHOP: CATCH THEM YOUNG, ROAD SAFETY BEGINS WITH ME" will attract who is who in Ogun, starting from his Excellency, Governor Dapo Abiodun". We are rappelling for your cooperation and support because safe and responsible driving is everybody's responsibility.
