Olota of Ota Leads In TRACE Safety Programme Of Crossing Pry School Pupils On Roads

Business minded and amiable people of Ota, an ancient town in Ogun State, woke up on Thursday to be greeted with an unusual sight of an august event in which the royal father of the town, His Royal Majesty, Olota of Otta, Awori Kingdom, Prof. Adeyemi Abudukabir Obalanlege (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode, led Operatives of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, Olota in Council and over 500 Primary school teachers, in safety and fitness field march.

Dignitaries who accompanied the Olota in the 2-day refresher course of training teachers on traffic control organized by the TRACE, included the Ado-Odo/Ota Council Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Adewale Musa, Deputy TRACE Commander, Babatunde Michael Ajayi, Area Commander (Planning and Training), Olabode Monsuru Abdul, Area Commander, Ogun West, Ajibade Adekunle Ariyo, other TRACE Commanders, The Police Area Commander, Sango, ACP Muhammad Musa, Alatan of Atan, Kabiyesi Isiyemi Akinyemi Adeniji, and Ado-Odo/Ota Zonal Education Secretary, Revered Adeboye.

Other security agencies who spoke in turn, adding value to primary school educational system and safety of pupils, included the Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ganiyu Akeem, NDLEA Area Commander, Adekunle Soyoye, Sango-Ota Police Divisional Traffic Officer, DSP Adebimpe Sodeinde, and Nigerian Red Cross Society, represented by Uncle B.

The teachers drawn across the 134 primary schools in the Council area who were trained on the rudiment of ensuring protection and safety of pupils in and around the school premises, especially crossing them on the roads were given certificates of participation and reflective jackets by Commander Ajayi, on behalf of TRACE Commander, ‘Seni Ogunyemi.

Kabiyesi Obalanlege said much emphasis must be placed on the safety of the pupils, especially in the areas of having zebra crossing on highways to further aid their safety while crossing roads among others.

 

Speaking on behalf of the TRACE Commander/CEO ‘Seni Ogunyemi, in his welcome address, Commander Ajibade said TRACE management organized the programme in conjunction with the Ado-Odo/Ota Council Chairman, Hon. Sheriff Adewale Musa and the zonal education authority in the council area.

 

According to Ajibade, the aim of the programme is to reduce frequent rate of accident within school premises in the council area, which was believed could be achieved through training and retraining of teachers on traffic control.

 

“Experience has taught us a bitter truth of the necessity to embark on training and retraining of teachers in primary and secondary schools in enforcement of traffic control within our jurisdiction in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Council Area”, Ajibade said while thanking some corporate organizations for their moral and financial support. They include De United Foods Industries Limited, Ota, Sona Group of Industries Nigeria, Sango-Ota, VeeVee Paper Products Limited, Sango-Ota, The Nigerian Breweries Plc, Ota, Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd, Ota, C-Way Food & Beverages Nigeria, Ota, and Kerlin Products (Nig.) Ltd.
