2027: NaijaBabe Unveils Plan to Link Ado-Odo/Ota Youths to Industrial Jobs..... PDP House of Representatives Candidate Promises Focus on Local Employment, Small Businesses and Cross-Border Trade

By Ọmọsọla Olumide

Engr. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, popularly known as NaijaBabe, has outlined proposed policy interventions aimed at expanding employment opportunities, supporting small businesses and strengthening cross-border trade in Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Under her “Tuesday Nuggets | Beyond Promises” initiative, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the House of Representatives highlighted the need to connect the constituency’s industrial base with the economic aspirations of its residents, particularly young people.

She expressed concern that despite the presence of major industrial and commercial centres in Ota, Agbara and the Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ), Igbesa, many young people still struggle to secure employment and build sustainable livelihoods within their communities.

“Our children are graduating and leaving home in search of opportunities, not because they lack talent, but because the opportunities to build a future at home are too limited. That must change,” she stated.

Industrial Jobs and Youth Opportunities

As part of her proposed policy direction, Agemo-Okuboyejo said she would advocate stronger partnerships between young people and companies operating across the constituency’s industrial corridors.

The proposal includes structured local internship opportunities, with a target of allocating at least 40 per cent of available slots to young women and persons living with disabilities.

According to her, such an approach would help bridge the gap between education and employment while improving access to practical work experience for underrepresented groups.

Support for Small Businesses

The PDP candidate also emphasised the importance of supporting traders, market women and small-business owners through improved access to business development opportunities.

She proposed a Supplier Development Initiative and tax-holiday awareness clinics to help eligible businesses understand available incentives, funding opportunities and support programmes.

She said the initiative would seek to connect entrepreneurs with relevant institutions, including the Bank of Industry (BOI) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), as well as applicable Central Bank of Nigeria-backed schemes.

The proposed measures, she explained, would focus on improving awareness of existing opportunities and helping local businesses navigate the processes required to benefit from them.

Leveraging Cross-Border Trade

On trade and livelihoods, Agemo-Okuboyejo identified the constituency’s proximity to the Seme corridor as an economic advantage that could be better harnessed.

She said she would explore legislative and policy measures to strengthen formal cross-border trade, improve access to legitimate markets and create better livelihood opportunities for residents and businesses across the constituency.

She acknowledged that the proposals would require consultations, legislative processes and collaboration with relevant institutions, alongside transparent implementation and accountability.

Beyond Promises: From Proposals to Results

Emphasising the philosophy behind her Beyond Promises initiative, the candidate said political engagement should go beyond speeches to include practical proposals, measurable objectives and public accountability.

“Our constituency has people, industries, enterprise and enormous potential. The challenge is to connect these assets to opportunities that ordinary people can access,” she stated.

She added that young people deserved opportunities to build their futures within their communities, while local businesses needed a fair chance to grow and contribute to economic development.

The proposed agenda places employment generation, enterprise development and trade facilitation at the centre of her campaign message ahead of the 2027 elections.

Agemo-Okuboyejo is seeking election to represent Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the PDP.

Campaign Message: Vote Engr. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo (NaijaBabe), PDP Candidate for the House of Representatives, Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency, 2027.
