Ogun West professionals have thrown their weight behind the 2027 governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, declaring that the time has come for the senatorial district to produce the next governor of Ogun State.
The declaration was made on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Ogun West Professionals for Yayi Annual General Meeting, held at the Police Multipurpose Hall, Boulevard, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where the group also inaugurated its newly elected executives.
The meeting, which attracted professionals and stakeholders from across Ogun West, was held under the theme, “Building a Greater Ogun State Through Visionary Leadership and Inclusive Development.”
A major highlight of the gathering was the swearing-in of the newly elected executives, who pledged to uphold the objectives of the organisation, promote unity among Ogun West professionals and contribute to the development of the senatorial district.
The new executives are Dr. Morakinyo Oloyede, President; Mr. Timothy Olatunji, Vice President; Mr. Akinleye Olubori, General Secretary; Mr. Agboyinu Benjamin, Finance Secretary; Mr. Adekunle Adebiyi, Treasurer; Rotn. Kayode Taiwo, Public Relations Officer; Prince Tosin Adeluyi, Project Coordinator; Hajia Fausat Bashir, Welfare Officer; and Dr. Tosin Adegbola, Assistant Secretary.
Speaking as Chairman of the Occasion, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Awori Land, Hon. Olayiwola Taiwo, urged the people of Yewa-Awori to shun rancour, division and personal interests and unite behind the aspiration of producing an Ogun West governor in 2027..
Chief Taiwo said the longstanding agitation for Ogun West to produce the next governor should serve as a rallying point for unity rather than division.
“It is our turn to lead Ogun State, and no stone should be left unturned,” he declared.
He described Senator Adeola as the “Joshua of our time,” drawing an analogy from the biblical Joshua, who succeeded Moses as leader of the Israelites.
“Recall that the agitation for the Ogun West sector of the state to emerge as governor has been a long-time struggle, but I am glad that the Joshua of our time has come,” he said.
Taiwo called on political leaders, professionals, youths, women and other stakeholders across Yewa-Awori to bury their differences and mobilise collectively towards the 2027 election.
He maintained that unity among the various groups and interests within Ogun West would be crucial to breaking the district’s longstanding political jinx and creating the opportunity for one of its indigenes to occupy the Ogun State Government House.
According to him, an Ogun West administration would provide an opportunity for inclusive governance, better representation and accelerated development across the state.
The meeting was convened and hosted by Chief Ajiroba Dapo Oke, while Alhaji Hassan Adekunle served as Chairman of the Planning Committee.
The gathering ended with renewed calls for unity, sustained mobilisation and collective action towards the group’s political objective ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
