A humanitarian gesture by the Ota Central Lions Club has brought tears, relief and renewed hope to Mrs. Ajarat Arinola, popularly known as Iya Ilorin, a stroke survivor who has been unable to walk independently.
The emotional moment unfolded on Sunday, September 6, 2026, when members of the club visited Arinola at her residence and presented her with a wheelchair and crutches after identifying her urgent need for assistance.
The presentation took an emotional turn when the Club President, Lion Abiodun Adeyemi, visibly overwhelmed by Arinola’s condition and the significance of the intervention, broke down in tears.
Arinola, equally moved by the gesture, struggled to contain her emotions as she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Lions, offering prayers for the club and its members.
The intervention followed a needs-assessment visit by the club, reinforcing its commitment to identifying vulnerable members of the community and responding to their immediate needs.
The presentation was witnessed by a large gathering of Lions and Leos of Ota Central, while the District Cabinet Secretary and Guiding Lion, Lion Arc. Wale Salako, also joined the team for the presentation.
Speaking at the event, Adeyemi said the gesture was driven by the club’s determination to respond to genuine needs within the community and make a meaningful difference in the lives of people facing difficult circumstances.
For Arinola, the intervention was more than a donation—it was a powerful reminder that help can come when hope appears to be fading.
