Machado Dolapo Unveils Ogun 360 to Tell Ogun Story, Connect People With Opportunities..... NUJ Secretary, Ogun Govt Youth Adviser, APC New Media Aide Harp on Credibility, Consistency, Balanced Reportage

A new digital media platform, Ogun 360, founded by Machado Dolapo, has been officially launched in Ogun State with a commitment to providing credible information, amplifying local voices and showcasing the state’s people, businesses, opportunities, culture and development.

The platform was unveiled at the weekend at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Hall, Iwe-Iroyin, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, during an event attended by media practitioners, government representatives and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the launch, the Convener and Founder of Ogun 360, Machado Dolapo, said the platform was established to bring together the diverse stories, people, businesses, talents, opportunities and initiatives across Ogun State.

Dolapo explained that Ogun 360 was not created merely as another social media platform, but as a credible source of information for residents and others interested in the development of the state.

He said the platform would tell the stories of the people, amplify their voices, highlight opportunities, celebrate progress and strengthen the connection between communities and the information they need.

According to him, Ogun 360 would also provide young people with opportunities to discover new prospects, help businesses gain visibility and give communities a platform to tell their stories.

Dolapo said the team would remain committed to credibility, consistency, creativity and innovation, adding that the platform would strive to become a destination for everything relating to Ogun State.

“We want Ogun 360 to become a platform where a young person can discover an opportunity, where a business can gain visibility, where a community can have its story heard, where citizens can stay informed, and where the remarkable things happening across Ogun State can receive the attention they deserve,” he said.

NUJ Secretary, Bunmi Adigun, Charges Ogun 360 on Truth

Speaking on “Telling the Ogun Story: The Responsibility of the Media in Shaping Our State’s Narrative,” the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, charged Ogun 360 and other media organisations to prioritise truth, accuracy, balance and credibility in reporting the affairs of the state.

Adigun said Ogun State had an extraordinary story of industry, agriculture, education, innovation, culture and human development, noting that the state was home to major industrial investments, renowned educational institutions, historic towns and people whose contributions extended beyond its boundaries.

He stressed that journalism went beyond reporting events, as the media also helped society understand issues, gave voice to people who might otherwise remain unheard, documented history, interrogated policies, celebrated achievements and exposed wrongdoing.

The NUJ Secretary urged Ogun 360 to ensure balanced reportage by going beyond government activities and political developments to highlight entrepreneurs, farmers, students, traditional institutions, artists, athletes, professionals and other citizens contributing to the development of the state.

“The first responsibility of the media is truth. In our desire to promote Ogun State, we must never sacrifice accuracy for excitement. We must not become cheerleaders at the expense of journalism,” he said.

Olamide Lawal Urges Consistency, Balance

Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Youth Development, Olamide Lawal, represented by Oluwatosin Emmanuel, urged Ogun 360 to maintain consistency and balance in its reportage.

Lawal stressed the importance of responsible information dissemination, advising the platform to ensure that its reports remained credible, fair and beneficial to the public.

Damilare Oloyede Commends Initiative

The Special Adviser to the Ogun State APC Governorship Candidate in the 2027 General Elections on New Media, Damilare Oloyede, represented by Westo Adekunle Adekumo, also commended Dolapo for establishing Ogun 360.

Oloyede urged the platform to maintain its credibility and use its reach to amplify the voices of people whose stories might otherwise remain unheard.

He encouraged the management to remain committed to responsible journalism and build Ogun 360 into a reliable source of information on the people, opportunities and development of the state.

The stakeholders expressed optimism that Ogun 360, if sustained on the principles of credibility, consistency, balance and innovation, would become a major platform for telling the Ogun story and projecting the state to audiences within and outside Nigeria.
