The people of Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State, alongside members of the Yoruba theatre community, are mourning the death of veteran actor and cultural icon, Alhaji Hassan Taiwo, popularly known as Ogogo.
The Ilaro Muslim Community has announced that the Janazah prayer for the late actor will be held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, Ilaro, at 10:00 a.m., according to an announcement by the Chief Imam of Ilaro.
Ogogo was widely celebrated for his remarkable contributions to the Yoruba entertainment industry through acting, filmmaking and traditional performance. Over the years, he established himself as a respected figure in Yoruba theatre, delivering memorable performances and making a lasting impact on the cultural landscape.
His death followed years of health challenges. In recent times, concerns over his health had prompted family members, colleagues and admirers to rally around him with prayers, support and goodwill.
Beyond his career on screen, Ogogo will be remembered as one of the practitioners who used theatre to preserve and promote the Yoruba language, culture and traditional storytelling.
His passing is a profound loss to his family, the Ilaro Muslim Community, colleagues in the entertainment industry and the countless fans who admired his talent and contributions to Yoruba culture.
