Hajiya Rukaiyat Bashir Gegu, wife of the Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, has commended the First Lady of Kogi State, Her Excellency Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ahmed Ododo, for her commitment to women, widows and the less privileged through her latest empowerment program in Kogi Local Government Area.
Speaking on behalf of the women and people of Kogi LGA during the event, Hajiya Rukaiyat described the First Lady’s visit as “a day of joy, hope, and gratitude” and “a clear demonstration of compassionate leadership”.
She expressed profound gratitude for the distribution of food items, clothing materials, and empowerment packages, noting that “these generous gestures will bring relief to many families and inspire hope among those facing economic hardship.”
Hajiya Rukaiyat who spoke at the Igu palace praised Her Excellency Hajiya Sefinat Ododo as “our dear mother, leader, and humanitarian” whose “motherly care and selfless service continue to touch lives and strengthen communities throughout Kogi State.”
She also appreciated Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for the “Renewed Hope Initiative for Women Empowerment” which has extended impact to the grassroots.
The Commissioner’s wife urged all beneficiaries to make judicious use of the support, saying “Let this empowerment serve as a stepping stone toward greater productivity, economic independence, and improved living standards.”
In a strong show of support, Hajiya Rukaiyat assured the First Lady that “the combination of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is a clear testament of service to humanity and societal growth. We in Kogi LGA will reciprocate hugely come January 2027.”
The program was attended by Her Excellency Deaconess Margaret Eleojo Salifu, wife of the Deputy Governor; Hajiya Zainab Umar Yusuf Aliyu, wife of the Speaker, KSGHA; Hajiya Amina Danladi Aguye, wife of the member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency; Hajiya Fatima Idrees Aliyu, wife of the member representing Kogi Koton-Karfe State Constituency; other wives of KSGHA members; the Executive Chairman of Kogi LGA, Hon. Abdulmalik Musa; His Royal Majesty, Dr. Saidu Akawu Salihu, Ohimege Igu Koton Karfe, Agabaidu; political leaders, stakeholders, community leaders, women, youths, widows, and residents of Kogi LGA.
Concluding her address, Hajiya Rukaiyat welcomed the First Lady to Kogi LGA, “your original home,” and prayed: “May your stay be pleasant, your efforts richly rewarded, and may God continue to bless and strengthen you for greater service to humanity. Nyaruse Onyi Kogi.”
The empowerment initiative reinforces the Ododo administration’s focus on inclusive governance and direct impact at the grassroots, with women and vulnerable groups as priority beneficiaries.
