Ogun 2027: Adeola Yayi Thanks Tinubu, Abiodun, Osoba, Others for APC Consensus Ticket |Omohglobalnews

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (APC, Ogun West), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has expressed profound gratitude to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dapo Abiodun, Olusegun Osoba, other former governors of Ogun State, and leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

The decision was reached at a well-attended APC Caucus Strategic Meeting held at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, where Governor Abiodun formally announced Adeola’s adoption with the unanimous backing of key aspirants and stakeholders.

In a statement issued shortly after the announcement, Senator Adeola described his emergence as a reflection of unity, equity, and collective resolve within the APC.

He specially appreciated President Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for their commitment to fairness and inclusiveness, noting that the decision signals a historic shift in favour of Ogun West Senatorial District, which has yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state five decades ago.

“I must especially thank President Tinubu for his mentorship, guidance, and unwavering support throughout my political journey. He, alongside Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has consistently supported my aspirations over the years,” he said.

The senator also expressed appreciation to Governor Abiodun and the First Lady, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, for their confidence in his leadership and sustained support.

“The Governor stood by me when I moved from Lagos politics to represent Ogun West in the Senate and has continually supported my developmental initiatives,” he noted.

He further acknowledged the pivotal role played by Chief Olusegun Osoba, whom he described as a father figure, for his guidance and steadfast support at critical moments.

“Baba Osoba worked tirelessly at different levels to support my aspiration and provided invaluable counsel throughout the process,” he added.

Senator Adeola also commended former governors, Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, for their contributions in achieving a widely accepted consensus within the party.

He praised the Ogun State APC executive led by Chief Yemisi Sanusi for conducting a transparent and inclusive process, while also applauding fellow aspirants for their maturity and commitment to party unity above personal ambition.

“I sincerely thank all my co-aspirants for embracing the consensus principle. I particularly appreciate Hon. Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka and Hon. Abiodun Akinlade for prioritising the collective interest of Ogun West and the entire state. I also acknowledge goodwill messages from Distinguished Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, Mr Tunde Lemo, Hon. Kayode Jellili Amusan, and many others. There are no winners or losers—APC has emerged stronger and more united,” he stated.

Calling for unity, Senator Adeola urged party faithful, support groups, and stakeholders across Ogun State to rally together with renewed purpose and shared commitment toward victory in the forthcoming general elections.

He also appealed to all indigenes of Ogun State, both at home and in the diaspora, to embrace hope and work collectively toward a brighter future, expressing confidence in the state’s potential for inclusive growth and sustainable development.

The senator assured that, if elected, his administration would prioritise people-centred development, driven by innovation, economic expansion, and improved social welfare. He emphasised that the mission ahead transcends sectional interests and focuses on the collective prosperity of Ogun State.

He further pledged to consolidate on the achievements of previous administrations while introducing bold, forward-looking initiatives that will benefit all parts of the state.

“In unity lies our strength, and through our shared purpose, we will secure a brighter future for Ogun State. Together, we will rise, build, and win,” he affirmed.
