2027: KBJ Unveils Grassroots Agenda, Targets Youth Empowerment, Women Inclusion in Ota Constituency I|Omohglobalnews

By Ọmọsọla Olumide

A grassroots aspirant for Ota State Constituency I in the 2027 elections, Hon. Kelani Bolaji Jeleel (KBJ), has pledged to prioritise people-driven representation and sustainable development if elected into the Ogun State House of Assembly.

Jeleel made the commitment during a “Meet the Press” programme organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun West Independent Chapel, where he outlined his legislative vision and development blueprint for the constituency.

The session, which provided a platform for aspirants to engage the public through the media, saw Jeleel emphasise his long-standing involvement in youth empowerment and community development, particularly through skills acquisition initiatives in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.

He disclosed that over 3,000 youths have benefitted from programmes he facilitated, including the Federal Government’s T-MAX initiative introduced under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. According to him, beneficiaries were trained in various vocational skills and supported with tools and equipment to enhance self-reliance.

“As we speak, thousands of tailors, hairdressers and graphic designers have benefitted from these interventions. Skill acquisition and education remain critical to tackling unemployment and poverty,” he said.

Jeleel noted that his achievements in the private sector underscore his readiness for public office, adding that occupying an elective position would enable him to expand such interventions.

“I have demonstrated capacity outside government. With the opportunity to serve, I will scale up efforts to deliver impactful programmes that uplift the people, rather than engage in tokenism,” he stated.

He further highlighted plans to boost youth and sports development through initiatives such as the proposed KBJ Five-a-Side Football Competition, to be organised in collaboration with Lagos State, aimed at discovering and nurturing young talents.

The aspirant also pledged to strengthen women empowerment through his “Owodokowo KBJ” initiative, designed to support small-scale businesses and improve economic opportunities for women.

In addition, he called for greater support for traditional institutions, particularly the Ado-Odo Traditional Council, noting their importance in grassroots governance and community cohesion.

Jeleel assured that his administration, if elected, would be inclusive, with deliberate policies to support physically challenged persons, especially in the areas of education, vocational training and skills development, in partnership with relevant government agencies.

He stressed that his leadership philosophy is rooted in service and human development.

“Leadership is about impact. It is about improving lives and creating opportunities. Politics should be a vehicle for development, not an end in itself,” he said.

Jeleel reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment, women development and overall community growth, assuring constituents of effective and responsive representation if given the mandate.
