The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, in conjunction with His Royal Majesty, the Olota of Ota, Oba Abdulkabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun II, today paid a crucial visit to Sango/Ota Market to caution market women and traders against roadside trading and indiscriminate parking along major roads.
The visit was necessitated by the increasing congestion, obstruction, and safety risks caused by traders displaying goods by the roadside and vehicles parked indiscriminately around the market area. These activities disrupt traffic flow and pose serious dangers to pedestrians, motorists, and traders.
During the engagement, both the Chairman and the revered monarch emphasized the importance of maintaining order, discipline, and compliance with government regulations for the community's safety and development. They urged traders to use designated market spaces and advised motorists to park responsibly to avoid accidents and traffic gridlock.
The Chairman and Olota of Ota also visited Ota-Idiroko Road to assess the level of work on the road construction, where Hon. Lawal Wasiu expressed concern over the hardship being experienced by residents. He noted that several streets had been cut off from the road without proper access in and out.
The former Head of Service in Ogun State, Town Planner Amope Shokor, Engr. Osanyibi Jimoh, Law enforcement agencies and the team from the Local Government Works Department and Environmental Sanitation Officers, Ota Youth assembly also participated in the drive.
The leadership reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safer, cleaner, and more organized environment for business activities in Sango/Ota and across Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government. This proactive move demonstrates responsible governance and collaboration between traditional and political leadership in safeguarding lives and promoting sustainable development.
