JMG Powers NIPCO’s Energy Shift: ₦44.4 Million Saved Annually with Solar at 3 Key Fuel Stations |Omohglobalnews

JMG Limited, Nigeria’s trusted hybrid and integrated electromechanical energy provider, has successfully commissioned solar power systems at three major NIPCO Plc, a prominent fueling station in Nigeria. The project, which involved the installation of solar power systems at three of NIPCO’s stations in Gwagwalada, Lekki, and Mpape, delivered dependable clean energy, eliminating diesel reliance, and unlocking over 44 million in annual energy cost savings.

The installations feature advanced hybrid systems, combining solar arrays, lithium battery storage, and smart inverters to provide 24/7 energy for fuel pumps, lighting, and office operations. Each site has reported zero use of electricity or generator power since the systems were installed.

We are proud to help NIPCO lead the energy transition at the retail level,” said Abbass Hussein, Head of JMG’s Hybrid Solar Division. The three NIPCO stations now run on an advanced hybrid solar system that combines highefficiency PV panels, intelligent lithiumbattery storage and smart inverters. Since commissioning, the sites have operated with zero grid or generator power, providing silent, clean, uninterrupted electricity for pumps, lighting and administration.

This demonstrates that fuelretail and other highenergy sectors can shift to clean, costeffective, resilient energy without sacrificing performance. The scalable architecture can be sized to each location and has already delivered significant savings, about88,535kWh/year, 44.4million in annual cost savings and a 43.8tonne reduction in CO emissions.

Collaborating with NIPCOon this initiative demonstrates a practical pathway for other firms to reduce both emissions and energy expenses,” Hussein added

The project, which was completed between May and June 2025, features high-efficiency solar panels, premium hybrid inverters, and scalable lithium battery banks. The systems are designed to provide stable and uninterrupted power for mission-critical fuel dispensing, LPG systems, lighting, and office operations.

According to Mr. Idoko Jacob, NIPCO’s Station Manager at Gwagwalada, "The stations have not relied on electricity or generator power on bright-weather days since commissioning. The solar systems fully meet our daily energy needs during such periods. On days with poor weather, we supplement the solar system with generator power to ensure uninterrupted operations."

The key impacts across all 3 stations include a total solar generation of 88,535 kWh/year, annual cost savings of 44.4 million, CO emissions avoided of 43.8 tonnes/year, load coverage of 80100% of daily energy demand, and a system type of hybrid solar with lithium battery backup.

The NIPCO Gwagwalada Station has a solar output of 42,450 kWh/year, annual savings of 15.6 million, and CO reduction of 15,332.76 kg/year, with a system installed consisting of a 20kW Deye LV Hybrid Inverter, 26.8kWp Solar PV, and 51.2kWh Lithium Battery Storage.

The NIPCO Lekki Station has a solar output of 3,635 kWh/year, annual savings of 12 million, and CO reduction of 13,130.1 kg/year, with a system installed consisting of a 25kW Must Hybrid Inverter, 22.95kWp Solar PV, and 76.8kWh Lithium Battery Storage.

The NIPCO Mpape Station has a solar output of 42,450 kWh/year, annual savings of 16.8 million, and CO reduction of 15,332.76 kg/year, with a system installed consisting of a 20kW Deye LV Hybrid Inverter, 26.8kWp Solar PV, and 61.44kWh Lithium Battery Storage.

These systems allow NIPCO stations to operate independently of the grid for most of the day, with batteries absorbing excess solar production and smart inverters managing seamless transitions. Generator use has been reduced to near zero, only occasionally supporting loads during extended cloudy weather.

Since commissioning, the solar systems have fully powered our operations. We are satisfied and impressed by the reliability and savings,” said Mr. Idoko Jacob, Station Manager at Gwagwalada.

JMG delivers reliable and efficient solar solutions, whether for small homes or large enterprises, and is equipped to meet any energy requirement with the best in solar technology.
