The 2024/2025 edition of the Olota Cup burst to life on Monday, November 24, 2025, with a spirited opening ceremony that echoed the Awori Kingdom’s deep dedication to youth development and grassroots sports.

His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, Ph.D., the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Otta Kingdom, officially declared the tournament open at the Bells University Stadium in Ota, Ogun State. The event drew distinguished guests, traditional rulers, academic leaders, and sports lovers from across the region.. 




In his address, His Majesty praised the organising committee led by Mr. Olaniyi Akinbode, CEO and Publisher of Travellers Network Magazine, for their unwavering commitment to successfully delivering both the Olota Cup and the Olota Marathon year after year.
Kabiyesi encouraged participating schools to view the competition not merely as a contest, but as a platform for unity, talent discovery, and potential pathways to professional football. He highlighted discipline, professionalism, and excellence as essential values for aspiring young athletes.
