Panic broke out on Friday after a fully loaded petrol tanker overturned at the Winners’ Chapel gate along the Ota–Idiroko Expressway in Ota, Ogun State.
According to a situation report from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the tanker, laden with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), fell on its side while attempting to enter the Winners’ Chapel premises to discharge fuel at one of the filling stations within the compound.
Although no casualties have been reported as of the time of filing this report, operatives of TRACE from the Ota and Atan divisions, firefighters, and police officers are currently on the scene. They are working to manage traffic, prevent any fire outbreak, and keep the public at a safe distance.
Traffic flow towards Ojuore has been diverted, while officials are making cautious efforts to transload the fuel and remove the fallen tanker from the road.
