President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the leadership of the Nigerian Armed Forces as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s national security architecture.
Under the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede becomes the Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa.
Major-General W. Shaibu has been appointed Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke takes over as Chief of Air Staff, while Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes duty as the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
President Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, expressed deep appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their dedicated leadership and patriotic service to the nation.
He further charged the newly appointed officers to justify the trust reposed in them by demonstrating renewed professionalism, vigilance, and unity in safeguarding the country.
All appointments take immediate effect.
