Igbesa Community Forum a platform constituted by Ogun State Institute of Technology Igbesa for the development and welfare of Igbesa community in Ado-Odo Ota Local Government area of Ogun State has sought for synergy and support of the Council in tackling security threat on the student of the institution and the community as a whole. The request was made during a courtesy call on the Executive Chairman of the council area Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa FCPA.
The Council Boss Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa FCPA while receiving the delegates, thanked Ogun State Institute of Technology Igbesa for their effort on the synergy formed with their host community towards the development and security of the students, life's and properties of Igbesa people as a whole. He equally assured the forum of the support and cooperation of his administration in addressing the security challenges posed by Okada riders in the area.
Speaking further, the Chairman analysed earlier measures taken by the local government to curb the menace of commercial motorcycle riders due to influx from neighboring states. One of the measures include ready-made registered uniform for all commercial motorcyclist in the council area to identify the rider in case of security bridge. He added that very soon the enforcement of the identification will be in operational.
Earlier speaking, a former Chairman of the council area Dr. Bankole Isaac Sewanu who led the forum on the visit said that the purpose of their visit was to let the chairman know the security threat posed by commercial motorcycle riders in the community. He said that there were so many cases of unidentified commercial motorcycle riders against the student of Ogun State institution of Technology Igbesa and the host community. He appealed to the Council Boss to provide means of identification to all commercial motorcycle operators so as to ease the security threat posed by them.
The Chairman Amalgamated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria Igbesa chapter Comrade Olamilekan Adeyemi promised the total cooperation of its association with developmental measures to curb all security threat in the community.
The Igbesa Community Forum was constituted by Ogun State Institute of Technology Igbesa which also comprises stakeholders in the community such as traditional rulers; religious leaders; market leaders; commercial motorcycle riders association; student representative council and security agents.
