This Narrative painting titled "NYSC EXPERIENCE" was gotten from deep meditation, because it a privilege given by God, through the planned scheme of Nigeria military government back then In early 70's on a program tagged "National Youth Service Corps"
To serve a nation for a year in an environment different from a cultural background and language one is unfamiliar with was a herculean task.
Many will say schooling and education is a scam, which I strongly disagree, base on my experience during the compulsory National youth service Corp with its bitter-sweet, immeasurable and amazing moment.
It started with self discipline and rigorous training subjected to from the military in the camp, which was to prepare us all ahead for the uphill task awaiting us all after the camping exercise.
Suddenly there was cashless policy in the nation, reason for my Naira design as one the symbol to conote the season of cashless policy, though things were tough, but was able to cope through sheer determination as demonstrated during our training in the camp.
Subsequently, election period came with fear and unknown gripping the whole nation, but despite all odd, I survived it all alone in another cultural environment entirely, experiencing the true sense of brotherhood in totality from those who don't understand my language as laid down and foresaw by our forefathers.
Towards the last quarter of my service year came in fuel subsidy palaver and amazingly survived this as well while patiently serving my country under the sun, the rain and worst weather I could never imagined.
I also discovered a lot about my self which is unknown to me and understood others cultures, tribes and languages, different from my own background.
The NYSC scheme has helped me to serve humanity in communities, especially in educational sector by imparting and sensitising students on moral values, religious beliefs and cultural heritage .
The scheme is a lifetime opportunity to young adults in promoting unity among ourselves regardless of cultural, religion, beliefs and political instability, we still remain unity in diversity as a nation. I implore youths to maintain faithfulness, Loyality and honesty accordingly, in order to contribute our quota to our country stability and growth.
I developed myself by acquiring more skills, enrolled for a professional program designed by Federal Government Of Nigeria, which added advantage to my qualification
All what I have experienced during the service year, have added more value to my life, although it was tough, but still I say "God bless my country, Nigeria".
