Netanyahu Vows to Keep Bombing Gaza Despite Death Toll Rising Above 8000 |Omohglobalnews

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that a ceasefire in the Gaza war “will not happen” as it would be “to surrender” to Hamas.

Recall that the war began on October 7 after the Palestinian armed resistance group Hamas launched an attack that took Israel by surprise.

Israel responded by launching another war on Gaza, imposing a complete blockade and relentlessly bombing civilian buildings and infrastructure.

According to AP News, Gaza Health Ministry said the death toll among Palestinians passed 8,000, mostly women and minors.

The toll is without precedent in decades of Israeli-Palestinian violence. Over 1,400 people have died on the Israeli side, mainly civilians killed during the initial attack, also an unprecedented figure.

As the war continues, many countries including Nigeria have called for a ceasefire and provision of humanitarian aid to the civilians in the Gaza Strip.

However, Israel’s PM at a press conference on Monday rejected the call for a possible ceasefire, insisting his country will defeat Hamas for good.

He also said that other countries must give more help in the struggle to free more than 230 hostages seized by Hamas in its October 7 attacks.

He said the international community must demand the captives “be freed immediately, unconditionally”.

“I want to make clear Israel’s position concerning the ceasefire, just as the United States did not agree to a ceasefire after the bombing of Pearl Harbor or after the terrorist attack of 9/11. Israel will not agree to the cessation of hostilities with Hamas after the horrific attack of October 7th.”

“Calls for a ceasefire are calls for surrender to Hamas, surrender to terrorism, surrender to barbarism, that will not happen,” Netanyahu said
