The Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/ Ota Local Government Engr. Sheriff Adewale Musa FCPA, yesterday Monday 2nd of October 2023 flagged off the distribution of subsidy removal palliative items expected to go round the 655 pulling unit in the council area.
The Council Boss in his address at the flag-off ceremony of the palliatives distribution held at the Local Government Secretariat appreciated the Federal Government and the Governor of Ogun State His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun for the subsidy removal palliatives to the Council area. He further stated that the council has already inaugurated committee at the Local Government level to monitor the distribution of palliatives items to the targeted people who are the vulnerable ones.
In his words, "what we are witnessing today is the flag-off of the distribution of palliative items received from Ogun State Government to cushion the effects of subsidy removal by the Federal Government of Nigeria. I have said it at the inaugural meeting of the Monitoring Committee that the items are meant for the poorest of the poor living in this council area"
According to the Chairman, the distribution of the food items to vulnerable households will be done through committees that has been established at all the 655 polling units of the council area. The committees formed at various units includes religious leaders, Royal fathers, Community Development Committees and representatives of the Youths.
Engr. Sheriff Musa appealed to the people of Ado-Odo /Ota Local Government to continue to cooperate with the Government at the Federal, State and Local level as more measures are in the pipeline to cushion the temporary pains. Programs and developmental projects that will make life easier and enjoyable will be provided by the present administration at all levels.
The Chairman led other dignitaries at the ceremony in the distribution of palliative items to the relief of beneficiaries. Dignitaries at the ceremony also took turn in the distribution of items to the vulnerable ones.
Mr Jamie Lawal a physically challenged man who spoke on behalf of beneficiaries of the palliative items appreciated the Government at all tiers for making life easier for the vulnerable ones in time like this. Like Oliver twist, he urged Government to do more by bringing reliefs to the masses.
Also present at the event were the Vice-Chairman Mrs Saidat Olatunbosun Animashaun, The Leader of Ado-Odo/Ota Legislative Council Hon. Bukola Balogun Omosowon, The Secretary to the Local Government, Mr Abiodun Akonthe Sejoro, Representative of Royal Fathers HRH The Onitetiku of Owode Ota Oba Abdul Wasiu Ogungbayi, former Council Transition Chairman Alhaji Wasiu Lawal, Supervisor for Community Development of the Council Mrs Ibikunle Tunrayo, Member Ogun State Central Working Committee on palliative Princess Feyikemi Egbeyemi, Prince Abiola Bakare among others.
