President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Abuja after attending the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union (AU) in Nairobi, Kenya.
The president arrived Abuja in the afternoon, today, Monday, July 17, 2023.
He was welcomed by the Secretary General to the Federation, George Akume, Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, Former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje, and service chiefs.
Tinubu’s return to Nigeria is met with controversies surrounding his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). The National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC recently announced the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore as National Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
Adamu was the chairman of the party before Tinubu’s trip to Kenya. However, leadership changed hands a few hours ago, and Senator Abubakar Kyari has therefore announced himself as the acting national chairman of the party, citing the party constitution.
