President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has started efforts to see an end to insecurity in the country as he visited the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Abuja.
The president on Monday, June 5, 2023, was received by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj Gen Babagana Monguno (rtd), and other top officials at the centre.
The NCTC was commissioned in March 2023, by former President Muhammadu Buhari to serve as a facility that will use to effectively coordinate national security and counterterrorism efforts.
The centre houses the Joint Terrorism Analysis Branch, National Counter Terrorism Strategy, Explosive Devices Analysis Office and the Preventing Countering Violent Extremism Unit which coordinates the implementation of Nigeria’s Policy Framework and National Action Plan for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism.
It is staffed by experienced officers from government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Monguno said President Tinubu’s coming to the ONSA for his first engagement outside the Presidential Villa showed his total commitment to the security of Nigerians.
He then presented the president with a memento on behalf of the Office of the National Security Adviser.
Tinubu while recieving the memento asked the Security and Intelligence Agencies on Sharing Intel to Counter Terrorism.
