Drama as Abure and Apapa’s Labour Party Factions Clash at Presidential Tribunal in Abuja (Video)|Omohglobalnews


There was drama at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, when two factions of the Labour Party clashed.

The drama was between Julius Abure and Lamidi Apapa’s faction of the Labour Party (LP) on which group should be in court.

Trouble started when Lamidi Apapa, factional chairman of the party, walked into the court premises alongside some of his supporters.

Apapa who is locked in a battle with Julius Abure, suspended chairman of the party, had arrived the court for the case of a petition which Peter Obi, Presidential Candidate of the party, filed against the victory of President-elect Bola Tinubu.

Although Abure was not in court, some key members of the party, including Akin Osuntokun, Director-General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign where on ground.

They engaged the Apapa faction in a shouting match.

“Who are you?” a party official asked Apapa, who fired back saying, “Who are you too?”

Meanwhile, when justices arrived to commence the day’s proceedings, they refused to acknowledge the representation of the party aside the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi, who is present in court.

The Tribunal refused to take an appearance for the LP as acting National Chairman of the party, Lamidi Apapa, as well as the National Women’s Leader of the party, Dudu Manugu, tried to make an appearance for Labour Party when the petition was called.

Justice Haruna Tsamani noted that if two persons are making an appearance for the party, they will not be put on record.
