Covenant University (CU) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abiodun Adebayo has called for total eradication of malaria in Nigeria, nay Africa.
Prof. Adebayo made the call during a Forum at the University chapel marking the World Malaria Day on Tuesday 25th April, 2023 with the theme : Time to deliver Zero malaria: Invest, innovate, implement, saying that; while China could be a zero Malaria state, Nigeria also could be.
Prof. Abiodun Adebayo Vice Chancellor Covenant University during his opening address at the forumCovenant University's Community Development Impact Initiative committee in collaboration with Ace Medicare Clinic led by Dr Wole Kukoyi, the organisers of the forum are ready to tackle Malaria Menace through their innovative and research.
Prof. Adebayo said the goal of World Malaria Day which is being observed annually is to increase public awareness on the fight against malaria and to promote action that will lessen it's impact on suffering and mortality.

Left, Dr Chinyere Ayangwu the President of the Association.According to him, millions of Nigerians are in danger of contacting malaria each year, making it a severe issue in the country, adding that Nigeria is home to the most significant number of malaria infections and fatality.

He reiterated the varsity's commitment to reduce the burden of malaria within and outside the University through its community development impact initiatives.
Prof. Tayọ George, Chairman Covenant University Community Development Impact Initiative Committee at the forumSpeaking at the occasion, Chairman of the Community Development Impact Initiatives of the University, Prof. Tayọ George said its department will ensure that they get rid of malaria in Ota as part of their social responsibility to the area in the society.
Chairman of the Ace Medicare Clinic, Dr Kukoyi also gave his total support in the eradication of the disease, adding the University has been in partnership from time immemorial in the eradication of malaria in the locality.
In another development District Governor Rotary international 9110, ROT. Omotunde Lawson, said Rotary has been front runners on malaria eradication all over the world, adding that they run an annual programme, a" Family Health" within their domain, she also promised unending relationship with Covenant University because of its enthusiasm towards community service and development. She however said Rotary has brought about 50 Surgeons from America to treat more than 5,000 Nigerians free of charge.
In conclusion, Prof Tayo George expressed her gratitude to the Covenant University Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo, his vice Prof. Abiodun H.
