After the unfortunate road accident on 7th September, 2022 involving a loaded fuel tanker and several vehicles where many lives were lost at the narrow bridge at Iju-Ota.

Another accident occurred yesterday 15th September ,2022, in which two lives were lost and exactly 10pm yesternight another accident occured ,though no life was lost.

Residents, road users were so aggrieved about the recurring problem making them staged a protest by blocking the international route that leads to Benin Republic. Thereby distrupting activities for almost half of today's Friday 16th September, 2022.

It took the personal intervention of Olota of Ota, Oba Prof. Obalanlege to caution, persuade and intercede with the aggrieved crowd to leave the road , convincing them of already informed the Minister of Works, Mr Raji Fashola.

What Road Users are saying

The Residents and the road users are with one voice, that the  busy Idiroko road is in urgent need of an upgrade to a dualised road. The bridge section should be elevated to eradicate the descend from either side of the bridge approach.

The alignment must equally be reviewed as it unsafe negotiating a curve while driving towards a bridge. At least a quarter of a kilometers straight road alignment should be incorporated in the new design.

Meanwhile the TRACE Commander Seni Ogunyemi already took a bold step, mandating Trace Corps to ensure 24hours traffic control over that very spot to ensure compliance and free flow of movement and avoid reoccurence of  further road crash.

Around this period last year, Federal Ministry of Works and Housing intimated the public on reconstruction of the international route by Mike Adenuga via a tax exchange a project @BRF said will commence first quarter of 2022.

Ogun state government then made a bold announcement that Otunba Michael Adenuga would used his tax (Glo tax credit) to construct road from Sango to Idi- Iroko.
