SALLAH: “WE ARE READY TO ENSURE SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE DRIVING IN OGUN” – TRACE




The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, TRACE, says it will ensure safe and responsible driving, through effective traffic management and prompt rescue service throughout the 12 major traffic corridors in the State, before during and after Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

Other areas to cover include the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Atan-Lusada-Agbara-Badagry Expressway, Interchange-Sagamu-Ijebu/Ode-Benin/Ore Expressway, President Mohammed Buhari Expressway (Formerly Abeokuta-Kobape-Siun-Interchange Expressway), Lafenwa/Rounder-Olorunda-Aiyetoro-Imeko-Ilara Border among others for constant motorised patrol on a 24hr basis.

In a release signed by Cdr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, TRACE PRO (M&S) and made available to *The Daily News*, the Corps Commander/CEO, Cdr. Abdul-Fatai Olaseni Ogunyemi informed that the operation which commenced on Monday, 4th July, 2022, through Monday 18th July, 2022, will involve monitoring all Eid Praying Grounds in the State to prevent indiscriminate parking, especially at diversion and rerouting points, where road reconstruction are on going, in addition to timely clearance of obstructions, prompt rescue/emergency service and collaboration with other safety and security agencies.


*The Daily News* further gathered TRACE believes that safety on roads is a collective responsibility hence the need for the exercise to also involve all users of the road through its Traffic Whistle Blower Initiative, Emergency Traffic Service and Community Based Traffic Management Scheme, in view of the attendant traffic build-up anticipated, as a result of increased human and vehicular movement.

According to the release, TRACE operatives are expected to be civil, humane, fair and firm, where the need arises and exhibit a high level of professionalism.

While felicitating the Muslim Ummah, Cdr Ogunyemi, admonished all to avoid night travels, reflect on the reason for the season and be safety conscious, and also ensure strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations, as any vehicle contravened for any traffic infraction(s) during the celebration will not be released until Monday,18th July, 2022,  after the TRACE Special Eid-El-Kabir Operation Order.
