Sanwoolu Issues Total Ban of Okada Riders in Some Part of Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has issued total and indefinate ban on operations of commercial motorcycles, also known as Okada in some areas of the state.

The Governor gave the order while speaking with all DPOs and Area Commanders across the State at the Lagos House, Ikeja.

According to the directive, six local government areas were affected. They include; Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Lagos Island, and Apapa.

While giving the directive, the governor urged the officers to ensure total enforcement of the ban. He, however, revealed that other security agencies will join in the enforcement, which will take effect from June 1, 2022.

The ban followed the gruesome murder of a Sound Engineer, David on Sunday May 15, 2022.

David was lynched and burnt by some irate okada riders in the Lekki area of the state, a sad incident over which 10 suspects were already in the police net.
